Alejandro Marin

Alejandro Marin is a designer, researcher and educator from Bogotá, Colombia, whose work examines the environmental toll of architectural practice and explores collaborations with non human entities to develop new materials along with ecological and political strategies.

He holds a Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University as well as a Master of Architecture and Bachelor of Fine Arts from South Dakota State University where he previously taught architecture studios and shop courses. Marin is a Designer at COOKFOX in New York City where his work centers on embodied carbon facade systems and sustainable construction practices.

His research includes bio material experiments such as Ladrillos de Boñiga a cow dung brick technique developed to support low carbon accessible construction and community based building practices. He is a co founder of the digital journal PEEL and published Towards a Trans species Architecture in 2023. He participated in the Citygroup collaborative exhibition with the entry What Would Plants Say If They Could Talk.
