Mindspace Lab

Mindspace Lab is the headquarters for the NGO Mindspace, comprising a mental health facility and civic park located along a body of water in Hangzhou City, China. 13% of the global population (970 million people) suffer mental health disorders. In China, a contributing factor for mental-health ailments among school-age students is the annual college entrance exam, Gaokao. This exam not only causes intense levels of pressure during the students’ senior year but also before and after the examination. It demands time and energy that is otherwise dedicated to sleep, social activities, relaxation, and self-exploration. With the background scenery in mind, Mindspace Lab provides a space for therapeutic programs of varying sizes and degrees of privacy for students to de-stress, explore themselves, and discover their inner balance. Located in the downtown area of this modern yet naturally beautiful city, Mindspace Lab is aimed towards students but also accessible to other citizens. It offers a calm, yet energetic, environment. Mindspace Lab would help raise the awareness of mental health issues and provide a platform for relaxation.
