Disability is often understood through alternative medical models in Asian countries; disabled people’s rights are not fully protected. The Malaysian government does not actively hire members of the disabled population for positions in the public sector. Research shows officials are aware of the disability clause in the Constitution but the technical team is not trained to fully detect accessibility compliance issues. This proposed NGO headquarters intends to work with Inclusion International and the City of Kuala Lumpur. It is located near City Hall and a monorail station in a diverse neighborhood. The program comprises inspector training, job education, conference spaces, and administration offices. It also includes an accessible, public roof area and parking spaces for the monorail station. The building features a concrete structure with a facade that integrates a bamboo panel rainscreen. Bamboo, a locally sourced material, provides shading for the building throughout the year with a design specific to tropical climate conditions.
