Tiep Hien House + Masterplan

This project is a masterplan and expansion proposal for Blue Cliff Monastery in New York’s Catskills Mountains. The project’s title Tiep Hien House refers to Tik N'yat Hahn philosophy of interbeing, where nothing can be understood to exist in an isolated state - all things and interdependent and interrelated. Tiep Hien House specifically examines this relationship as it relates to food and its places both locally within the daily practice of meditation of monks, and expands more broadly to classes and farm stands that open the monastery to the surrounding community.
