A significant part of being in architecture school is the competitive dynamic among peers—everyone strives for their work to be recognized and displayed. This competition often leads to heightened anxiety, exacerbated by the existing conditions of Avery Hall. The isolation of each floor limits interaction between different year levels and studios, creating a lack of transparency and amplifying expectations.
This project seeks to redefine the role of space within the architecture school, shifting from a production-centered model to one that emphasizes interaction and exhibition. By revealing and integrating the production process into the exhibition itself, the school transforms into a dynamic showcase for both students’ work and their creative journeys. This approach fosters transparency, breaks down silos, and cultivates an environment that celebrates collaboration, learning, and the shared experience of creation.
