La Goulette is a town famous for fish culture between the Lake of Tūnis and the Mediterranean sea. When Dusk had already fallen on La Goulette on August 16th, people from Muslims, Jews, and Christians joined the assumption ritual of Madonna together, which is seen as an example of coexistence and closeness between different religions. The proposal transformed Karraka, a historical military fort, into a fish market, a soup kitchen, a restaurant, and multiple new worship spaces for people from different religions. The new Karaka fort will nurture the values of peaceful coexistence and acceptance among different beliefs, nationalities, and cultures. The form is translated from the cathedral and mosque nearby, carefully using the lens to define what is similar as opposed to what is different, and using the power of these revelations to make the form. Moreover, the vault is cast by the hole dug from the fort, then assembled on the site. The new Karraka fort strives to preserve fish culture and maintains the pluralistic and joyful coexistence for the inter-religious dialogue.
