Shop Access

Making Studio Access Update – Fall 2021

2021-22 Orientation Video

Shop Orientation Contract

The Making Studio will open this Fall 2021 semester with the rest of the in-person facilities at GSAPP. Acknowledging the ongoing risk caused by the continuing pandemic, we ask for everyone’s help, participation, and patience to ensure that the shops can reopen and operate safely.

Before attending the shop, all GSAPP students need to complete a full new safety orientation. This is true for new students as well as returning students.

*The shops are open to GSAPP (only) student access without distancing requirements. Face masks are still required in our spaces. Laser cutting appointments are bookable in person.

  • During the Fall 2021 semester, the Making Studio shops are open from 10am–8pm, all days. The woodshop (not laser/3DP makerspace) will remain closed until 2PM on weekends for cleaning/training sessions in the morning. Though we are no longer limiting occupant density to COVID-era guidelines, we do have safe occupancy limits which will be enforced periodically with demand.

There is limited storage space for in-progress models in the 24-7 room.

  • This does not include raw materials – papers, hardware, mixes, etc… take these with you
  • Tag your work with a colored project tag, or your models will be removed.
  • No food or drink is permitted in the shops.
