The Urban Planning Program offers career development resources to help students take advantage of our location in New York City and discover unmatched opportunities for jobs and internships. Career services programming includes alumni panels, job search workshops, resume and portfolio feedback, visits to select public planning agencies and private consulting firms, and meeting with employers one-on-one at the Career Fair. Each spring, the program connects students to alumni through the annual speed-networking event.
The American Planning Association’s New York Metro Chapter offers additional networking opportunities through talks, mixers, and local conferences. The program supports travel to the APA national conference each year.
The Urban Planning program maintains a job board to advertise open full-time, part-time, internship, and fellowship positions – many of which are sent exclusively to M.S.UP students. In addition, a bi-weekly newsletter distributed by the program advertises upcoming networking opportunities and conferences..
URBAN is a magazine created, edited, and published by M.S.UP students. The publication features writing, interviews, photo essays, and graphic work related to urban planning and city life. While most contributors are in the Urban Planning department, students from all disciplines are encouraged to submit work and have been featured in past issues. Take a look at the most recent issue, Volume 26: Obsolescence, here.
