The intention of the geodesic dome structure is to allow for maximum solar exposure to each apartment without producing a structure that casts a shadow onto itself. The gradual tapering nature of the dome allows for sunlight to easily disperse around the entire structure evenly, increasing solar exposure to each apartment.
