I was inspired by the work of Torkwase Dyson and her concept of the “hyper-shape.” For me, this meant working with nested scales to confront the rigidity of the grid by presenting a curvilinear condition within a rectilinear condition, creating new and unusual negative spaces and forms to activate public interaction by carving away from the existing urban context.
