Urban Compound

While Seoul has lost many of its historic edifices because of fast development, the New Express Bus Terminal scheme remains as remnant of the industrialization period. Many examples of the city infrastructure development have tended to either change function to cultural activities or to focus on keeping existing structures while losing opportunities to introduce new elements to the city.

The Urban Compound proposes to add SSG HeadQuarters offices; an elderly care facility associated with a near-by Catholic medical and educational center; commercial space; art exhibition space; Support Center; F&B as well as additional infrastructure including 2,000 parking stalls. The total additional area adds up to 461,500m². The scale of this area is about 1.4 more than Lotte Tower or 0.95 of Rockefeller Center. The construction cost is estimated around 1.36 Billion. For the seven years of construction period, approximately 12,000 construction workers will be required.
