Residency in Frames

The project is an artist’s residency, a series of customizable modular homes intended to frame the Hudson River waterfront. As inhabitants are oriented towards the water from the historic town of Coxsackie, spatial relationships develop between the existing urban framework and the new intervention. Each residence is connected to an outdoor gallery space that is positioned behind the Dolan Building, allowing artists to easily transport their works and potentially gather in a collective space. The public gallery allows visitors to transcend from the historical theater into the natural landscape, gradually transitioning towards the waterfront through a series of framed views and artworks. Residences become increasingly enclosed and private as they descend towards the river, allowing artists the option to work and reside in complete isolation.
