The 2018 California Mudflows was one of the most tragic climate events in California’s history. Mudslides killed 23 people and buried many neighborhoods in Montecito in 15 feet of mud. I propose to use the mud from the mudslide to build a cultural space that remembers the sunken, suburban life that was once there and imagines a new architecture that lives with and among climate events.
