Burial Site Arts + Cultural Center

The 2018 California Mudflows was one of the most tragic climate events in California’s history. Mudslides killed 23 people and buried many neighborhoods in Montecito in 15 feet of mud. I propose to use the mud from the mudslide to build a cultural space that remembers the sunken, suburban life that was once there and imagines a new architecture that lives with and among climate events.
