AirCO is a future cyborg company taking advantage of automation and machine labor to create cyborgs with machine subjectivity as a new-born species populating the post-human habitat, challenging human subjectivity and redefining human-environment-machine boundaries through environmental measures. AirCO cyborg-01, as the first prototype developed by AirCO, is a CO2-absorbing machine that traps CO2 in the crystallization process of amino acids, responding to CO2 concentrations through sensors in ways such as pneumatic contraction and expansion and spraying amino acid as mist onto pneumatic membranes to form crystals. AirCO cyborg-01 is constantly negotiating with itself and its maker, contesting its own birth and creation, eating up its footprint along the process of its completion and is a machine without results. Designed with capacity for different stacking formations, AirCO cyborg-01s deploy, self-adjust, and adapt to man-built surfaces and natural landscapes.
