This project, located in the office park of Alexander Park Drive, intends to renew the 777 Alexander Building, which is a rectangle box building with a sloped aluminum roof. It transforms the building into a community center that will attract the surrounding people, the park employees, and New Jersey City residents. This project provides a temporary escape from the city. The concept is to obscure the boundary between interior and exterior, which I refer to as “in-between interior and exterior.” This strategy aims to keep the structure and form intact while making small changes to the interior. By creating a new pathway to the office park, it provides an opportunity for people to engage with the architecture. The fillet of the corner, the translucency of the ground level, and the screen located on the second level are the three elements employed to achieve this concept. The design of a skateboarding roof also attracts people to play.
