Inés Miño Izquierdo

Inés is co-founder of the award-winning collective La Cuarta Piel, which designs processes, spaces and situations that generate human interaction. Its work spans a range of projects, from public programming to installations that create bold spatial interventions. On her own, she runs imi-imi.com, a furniture and design studio awarded Best of Spain by AD España, which offers contemporary handcrafted furniture that gives everyday utility a more thoughtful, unique presence.

Her work delves into the intrinsic qualities of materials. Celebrating the balance between heavy labor and gentle precision, she reveals contrasts in her practice, inviting deeper contemplation of the unseen order within our environments and the beauty found in overlooked spaces. As a maker, she focuses on carpentry with a craft-based approach; in her research, she is driven by a curiosity for the hidden narratives within urban landscapes, the quiet resilience of underground spaces, domesticated nature, and the elegance of structures, machinery, and care.

Both her personal and collective practices feed into her teaching methodologies. Spatial design and urban research bring creative and technical expertise, as well as a hands-on approach, to the classroom, becoming tools to question established narratives.

She graduated from ETSAM, the Superior Technical School of Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, and from the University of Alicante (UA), Spain. She studied abroad for two years: one in São Paulo, Brazil, with the Magalhães Scholarship, and the other in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, where she completed her dissertation with the Santander Cooperation Scholarship.

Inés has exhibited at the V&A East, Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum, National Theatre London, Milan Design Triennale, La Casa Encendida, Royal Academy of Arts, Goldsmiths, Lewisham Arthouse, CentroCentro Cibeles, IVAM Museum, TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes, and Cigarreras Cultural Center, among others.

She has been part of the London-based collective Assemble Studio for many years, and has collaborated and worked with institutions including the AA Architectural Association, UCLouvain, Kingston University, CaixaForum Madrid, Reina Sofía Museum, COAC Barcelona, CTAA Alicante, University of Alicante, FADU School of Architecture, ETSAM Madrid, and Montana State University.
