Adjunct Assistant Professor

Juan Felipe Herrera Quiroz is an architect, urban designer, and real estate professional with over 14 years of international experience in multidisciplinary project development across the U.K., Europe, and the U.S. His work bridges architecture, infrastructure, planning, and finance, with a focus on the systems that enable sustainable and impactful development.

Before joining GSAPP as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the MSRED program, Herrera Quiroz spent a decade at Arup in London, where he led and contributed to large-scale masterplans, campus developments, and urban infrastructure projects. His work integrates design, project management, and early-stage development strategy, supporting outcomes that balance both vision and financial grounds.

He holds a Master of Science in Urban Design from The Bartlett School of Architecture at University College London and a Master of Science in Real Estate Development from Columbia University. His academic focus at Columbia included real estate finance, asset management, and the coordination of design and development strategies. He was part of the Columbia team that won the 2025 Miami Herbert Business School Real Estate Competition.

At GSAPP, Juan Felipe teaches PLAN 6329: Site Planning and Support Systems for Development lab, a course that explores physical planning frameworks, regulatory infrastructure, and technical tools with impact on financial feasibility, all critical to the pre-development phase of real estate projects.
