In 1998, he founded Capstone Realty Group to acquire and redevelop opportunistic and value-add commercial office, retail, and mixed-use properties.

In the past two decades, Capstone has successfully acquired over $550M in defaulted mortgages and distressed and value-add office, retail, and mixed-use projects in the Northeast and Southeast Florida. Professor Adelstein has overseen the renovation and development of over 4.5M square feet while being the managing partner of Capstone’s design and construction, project finance, and property management. In the late 1990’s, Professor Adelstein was a Wall Street investment banker where he arranged over $2 billion in equity and debt for hotel and office projects in the US, Canada, and Latin America. In the late 80’s and early 90’s, Mitchell worked at Ernst & Young as a certified MAI appraiser advising large national developers, pension funds, insurance companies, and banks on complex valuation, bankruptcy & restructuring, and corporate finance matters.

Mitchell is an avid equestrian and plays polo at the International Polo Club and Mashomack Polo Club.
