Mitchell Adelstein

Mitchell Adelstein has been an Assistant Adjunct Professor at Columbia GSAPP since 2001, where he teaches the Mock Transaction Class in the Real Estate Development program. In 1998, he founded Capstone Realty Group and is presently Managing Partner in change of Design and Construction, Project Finance and Asset Management. Capstone owns interests in over 4.0 million square feet of grocery anchored shopping centers and office buildings in New York, New Jersey, Long Island, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. Capstone has also acquired over $400M of defaulted mortgages. For over 10 years, he has been a Partner & Financial Advisor to Sixty Hotels including the sale of Thompson Hotel to Commune Hotels and the recapitalization of the company.

In the late 1990’s, Adelstein was an investment banker with a boutique Wall Street firm where he arranged over $2 billion in JV Equity, Mezzanine and Mortgage Debt for hotel and office projects in the US, Canada, and Latin America. In the late 80's and early 90's, he worked at Ernst & Young where he was a Senior Advisor to several large Pension Funds, Insurance Companies, and many US Banks regarding Portfolio Valuation, Bankruptcy & Restructuring and Corporate Finance.

Mitchell Adelstein has been a member of a numerous trade groups including: MAI, the Appraisal Institute; CRE, Real Estate Counselors, ULI, PREA, NCREIF and attended NYU Shack Institute M.S., Real Estate Development and Syracuse University, School of Management, Entrepreneurship and Emerging Enterprises.
