Brian Groudan (黄强强) is an interaction designer and Adjunct Assistant Professor at Columbia GSAPP. He has over a decade of experience studying, designing, and building systems that shape the way we live, work, and play.
In his role at Facebook, Groudan is responsible for making Instagram’s user experience compatible with assistive technology, design system inclusive, and media accessible. Prior to Facebook, he worked at Google, designing and scaling many of Google’s collaboration and creativity products. At Area 120, Google’s in-house startup incubator, he co-founded a team focused on prototyping new apps for short-form video expression. In 2012, he co-founded PayTango, a Y Combinator backed startup that provided biometric payments as a service for schools and small businesses. He has conducted mixed methods research at numerous institutions including Mozilla Corporation, The Boeing Company, and the Human-Computer Interaction Institute at Carnegie Mellon.
