Ibrahim Kombarji

Adjunct Assistant Professor

Ibrahim Kombarji is an architect, researcher, and writer based in New York. His work explores the entanglements of architecture, art, ecology, and geopolitics. Grounded in exhibition design and art direction, his research-based practice investigates the intersections of curatorial and architectural strategies. He has recently developed spatial design and strategic projects for Centro Pecci in collaboration with the Art Institute of Chicago, Pioneer Works, Maharam, and Sotheby’s.Ibrahim is Director of Strategy and faculty at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation (GSAPP). Previously based in Milan, he was a longtime collaborator of Formafantasma, where he led exhibition design, research, and curatorial projects with institutions such as La Biennale di Venezia, Prada, Artek, and the UNESCO Pearling Path.He has taught at the Architectural Association’s AA Visiting School in Basel, and his most recent writings have been published in PIN–UP, Errant Journal, and by Humboldt Books. Ibrahim holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the American University of Beirut and a Master of Architecture from Columbia University’s GSAPP.
