Joe Brennan, AIA, is a licensed architect, educator, writer, and problem solver with a passion for digital practice and design technology. Formerly of SHoP, Populous, Gensler, and BLDGWORKS, he is currently a Senior Computational Designer at KPF. There, he leverages advanced digital processes and technology to improve the design process.
Prior to teaching Rethinking BIM at GSAPP, he taught Ultrareal for over eight years. In the past, he has taught 3D visualization classes and performed research in robotics at the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) and City College of Technology.
Joe is a member of AIANY’s Housing Committee, as well as a mentor for students at Columbia’s GSAPP, a start-up mentor at New Inc, and a member of the Next Generation Leadership Fund at NABU.org. He has also worked on an advisory committee for NCARB and as a peer-reviewer for a journal on construction resilience by the American Society of Civil Engineers.
