Lisa Blake

Adjunct Assistant Professor

Lisa Blake is a planning professional with over ten years of experience at the intersection of resiliency, emergency management, and communication. She currently works for Michael Baker International and is the Mitigation Lead for FEMA Region 2 for the Community Engagement and Risk Communication contract.

Prior to this role, she worked at NYC Emergency Management in various capacities as: Deputy Direction of Hazard Planning and Preparedness, Recovery and Mitigation Program Manager, and Planning Section Chief in the City’s Emergency Operations Center. Through these positions, she learned about all phases of the disaster cycle. Additionally, she worked as Senior Project Manager at the New York City Department of City Planning, shepherding city-sponsored resiliency and large-scale development projects through the environmental review process. Before this, she worked at FEMA on Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts.

Lisa holds a master’s degree in Urban Planning from Columbia GSAPP and a bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources from Cornell University. She has lived abroad in Copenhagen, Seville, and the Negev in Israel. Lisa is also a Truman National Security Fellow and Urban Design Forum Fellow.
