Vanessa Velasco is an Urban Development Specialist at the World Bank. Since joining the Bank, she has supported projects in Colombia, Peru, Mexico, and Jamaica on urban and regional policy, housing policy, land value capture, urban regeneration, Transit Oriented Development (TOD), and local economic development. She has 15 years of experience in the development of urban projects and has worked as an urban development consultant in international organizations, as a Technical Manager for the development of urban regeneration projects in Colombia, and as a researcher in studies about land markets and land-based finance instruemnts (LVC) in Spain, Latin America, and South Korea. She is an architect with a master degrees in urban planning and urban administration, as well as a specialist in land markets and policies for Latin America.
About the Doryan Winkelman ’86 MSRED Real Estate Development Lecture
The Doryan Winkelman ’86 MSRED Real Estate Development Lecture (the Winkelman Lecture) is an annual lecture for the M.S.RED Program on the topic of international real estate development. Drawing on Columbia University’s vast network of global leaders and prominent practitioners, the Winkelman Lecture brings together esteemed guests, faculty and students to introduce and examine key issues surrounding the complex demands of global urban real estate development.
The Winkelman Lecture was established in 2018 by Doryan Winkelman ‘86 MSRED.
