Scent of the Trace
A lecture by Emre Arolat and Zeynep Arolat, of Istanbul and New York based Emre Arolat Architecture, with response by Ziad Jamaleddine, Assistant Professor, Columbia GSAPP.
Emre Arolat and Zeynep Arolat reflect on the firm’s attempt to produce an architectural language that belongs to its specific place and at the same time resonates with its time. Including their recently inaugurated Museum Hotel Antakya — a hotel hovering over archeological remnants that has created a cross-genre experience of archaeology, history, and hospitality.
Arolat works with their studio of around 80 people in New York, London and Istanbul on projects worldwide. EAA’s work has been recognized by Aga Khan Award for Architecture, RIBA International Prize for Architecture and Mies Van der Rohe Award among many others. In 2017 Arolat and Pasolar were the Norman R. Foster Visiting Professors at the Yale School of Architecture. Emre Arolat holds a professorship at the International Academy of Architecture and curated the 1st Istanbul Design Biennale.
Free and open to the public.
