Only half of the carbon sequestered in a whole tree over the course of its lifetime remains sequestered in the CLT produced from that tree. This project, therefore, incorporates the oncuts and offcuts from CLT production, both of which can provide equal value to a project. CLT blanks are used to produce the tower for the Center for Earth Ethics, a research library designed to encourage collaboration and exploration, while the offcuts from the production of CLT and the construction of the tower are used to produce the researchers’ residences.
