School for Environmental Education
At the School for Environmental Education, existing massing is replaced by a vertical stack of programming—a gymnasium, auditorium playground, library, cafeteria, and greenhouse—that serves the school during the day and the community after hours. This new stack sits atop a stormwater retention pond that can absorb excess water from an area prone to flooding risks. A central atrium provides circulation ramps along with ventilation space for warm air to escape through vents on the roof. Food grown in the greenhouse and on the rooftop farms, watered by filtered rainwater collected below, is used for healthy, sustainable lunches for kids and faculty.
