Substation

Substation is a prototype of ‘gas stations’ for the upcoming generation, which combines two urban necessities into one: electric car charging ports and public toilets with the application of red oak wood as natural renewable material to eliminate construction emissions and carbon footprint. The parking utilizes an automated system to move cars to and from parking spaces. Drivers pull up from the street, park their car in the drop off space, and proceed into the building. Upon entering, visitors are first greeted by a park that slips under a well-lit canopy, passing through the structure, there is an open space with seating, behind which are shared washbasins, and finally individual private rooms with full-length doors. From the section, introducing a layered sequence of experience from the most public sidewalk to the most private chamber.
