Typical Floor Plan
We argue that sustainability is based on lifestyles. We propose a self-sustainable attitude towards living; many items consumed items in an architecture originate from the architectural system itself: light, wind, water, and food. This design transforms the traditional large-scale public space into a series of domestically scale courtyards which nourish diverse activities and encourage residents to maintain their courtyards. Residents enter units through the roof landscape, which advocates a culture of walking and leads to healthier and energy-saving lifestyles. Boundaries between units are not fixed. Living spaces flow in between fixed elements: light wells, service cores, circulation cores, and shear walls. The design approach opens myriad possibilities of space usage and each unit is unique. In this way, the built structure can achieve its best efficiency.
