Disseminating Water Infrastructure

The rural spread of Suffolk County and geomorphological presence of aquifers creates a unique phenomena of the prevalence of private wells. This resulted in consuming contaminated water due to the lack of proper sewage treatment plants and infrastructure and the reliance on outdated cesspools. Combined with the proliferation of agricultural establishments, the risk of nitrate contamination has increased over the years.

This project critiques infrastructure and governance as sites of inaccessibility and inefficiency. Watershed Park explores possibilities to bridge the gap between human and infrastructure, using architecture to render visible the life cycle of water, disseminating the black box of infrastructure.
