This project positions restraint as a generative principle. Drawing from the Art Barge a structure shaped by necessity—where reuse, limited means, and its role as a working educational space produce a quiet, unembellished architecture defined by function rather than expression.
The proposal is defined by a fixed geometry, with all spatial variation contained within a disciplined grid. A primary structural frame organizes space without excess or deviation. Elevated in response to changing sea levels, the architecture maintains a quiet presence while minimizing its footprint and establishing a direct relationship between interior space and the surrounding landscape.
Simple materials and a modular timber system reinforce this sense of restraint. The building is organized as a long, elevated volume contained within a regular structural frame. The proposal incorporates partial skylights and custom sized glass panels along its length, their placement aligns with the bays and enhances natural lighting without breaking the structural rhythm.
By integrating living, working, and environment, the project offers a contemplative setting that supports creativity while maintaining a careful and responsible relationship with its surroundings.
