Los Laureles Canyon is understood as a living system where environmental conditions and community life are closely interconnected. Ongoing challenges—such as flooding, erosion, pollution, and uncollected waste—intensify across the valley floor and unstable slopes, revealing an imbalance in the landscape. Rather than treating these as isolated issues, the project addresses them as linked ecological and social conditions. In response, it proposes small, distributed interventions, including community-driven waste systems, water management strategies, and shared public spaces that strengthen social networks. By centering the community, the project seeks to heal the canyon, repairing its imbalances and supporting a more resilient and healthy environment over time.
