Revival Grounds investigates toxicity through the site of Newtown Creek in Brooklyn, where long-term industrial pollution continues to impact environmental and public health. It proposes transforming abandoned National Grid LNG tanks into soil remediation hubs that process contaminated earth using organic waste from nearby transfer stations. Through composting methods—fungi-based, vermicomposting, and hybrid systems—hydrocarbons and VOCs are broken down. A system of excavation vehicles circulates soil between contaminated sites and treatment facilities, enabling continuous remediation. Over time, this process restores ecological systems and supports the reintroduction of community uses, reframing toxic industrial remnants as active infrastructures of healing, memory, and environmental regeneration.
