Mending Textile Landscapes (2026) is the lifecycle and site of reusing mass clothing waste. In response to the nearly 60 million tons of clothes dumped in the Northern Atacama of Chile, the project centers the reuse of these clothes in a number of methods. Specifically looking at the process of creating hand pressed tiles from mixed clothing, the ruined Saltpeter factory becomes a space of slow, community driven growth. It questions the idea of who has agency in the face of already scaled up practices. Who creates waste vs. who ends up consuming it? This repair weaves together different practices tied to histories of textile resistance in order to inhabit an abandoned frame, eventually creating a space that builds itself.
