House Distracted

Through initial experiments on materializing abstract emotions in drawings and 3D sculptures, the emotion of being distracted was determined to be the main concept of this house design. The house is located on a line dividing forest and field, which is so typical and technical, that it recalls the feeling of being distracted. The basic geometry of the house represents a wall-like, linear shape that intensifies this emotion. With some adjustments to the indoor space to satisfy different uses, even the perfect line of the building appears distracted. The house interior also follows the main concept with daily activities entangled with special self-driven activities. An elevated passage connecting the main road to the town separates the narrow space, and exists in juxtaposition to sit-down activities. Some other general, sequential, centroid, or even bumpy spaces dismantle boundaries between the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom spaces. The feeling of being distracted lies in both direct representations, as well as in hidden clues. A chaotic lifestyle rather than an exquisitely managed one is encouraged in this design, which questions if it performs better.
