House of anxious configuration

This design originated from a poem. The poem described the feeling of anxiety felt by a crew surrounded by a storm in the ocean. This sense of stress itself is uninterrupted (due to the ungraspable size of the sea) and continuous. There is also a physical and mental gap between the crew and the sea which creates a sense of division that generates fear. This project aims to express this sense of division. In my design, the landscape can be seen as the ocean, and the main architecture space can be seen as the ship. I tried several proposals to design a “gap” between the architecture and the existing landscape, with the undulating shape of the earth as the determinant of the ambiguous space boundary. The eventual design of this building doesn’t have traditional columns and walls as the structure of the building. The earth is melted and intertwined below.
