Episode #1

11 June 2021

#1 Masaha: Climate Change in the Arab World: Deema Assaf & Nochi Motoharu

This summer, Masaha hosts a podcast mini-series, Climate Change in the Arab World. Masaha is a student association at GSAPP that investigates contemporary issues facing the Arab world. The mini-series consists of conversations with designers, practitioners, and scholars whose work responds to the issue of climate change, which is affecting populations worldwide with devastating impacts on the livelihoods and welfare of vulnerable communities.

In kicking off the mini-series, MARCH student Bisher Tabbaa speaks with Deema Assaf (TAYYŪN) and Nochi Motoharu (Midorization Project). They discuss forest creation as a means to help restore urban ecosystems. Their work extends to protecting the genetic diversity of native plants through seed harvesting and native plant production with different nurseries. (This conversation was recorded remotely in March 2021.)
