Adjunct Assistant Professor

Donnal Baijnauth is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation (GSAPP), where he co-leads the Digital Techniques for Urban Designers course. His module explores contemporary methods of visualization, storytelling, animation, video production, and artificial intelligence, equipping students with the digital tools needed to communicate complex urban ideas through compelling visual narratives.

He holds a Master of Science in Architecture and Urban Design from Columbia GSAPP (2023) and a Bachelor of Architecture from Cornell University (2022).

Donnal is a Design Strategist at Gensler, where he works at the intersection of design strategy, workplace consulting, and digital communication. He focuses on developing design guidelines, workplace strategy frameworks, and change management resources for global clients across the workplace, retail, and media sectors. His work includes leading content strategy for digital guideline platforms, facilitating stakeholder workshops, synthesizing user research and post-occupancy evaluations, and translating complex technical requirements into accessible design standards that can be implemented consistently across large portfolios.

His professional and academic interests center on the intersection of architecture, urban design, technology, and storytelling. He is particularly interested in how emerging visualization tools, data-driven design, animation, and AI can enhance the way designers communicate research, process, and design intent.
