Amelia Beavis-Harrison & Eirik Magnus Slyngstad

Tue, Jan 19, 2016    6:30pm

by Amelia Beavis-Harrison (U.K.) & Eirik Magnus Slyngstad (Norway)
As part of the artistic projects realized on the occasion of their residency in Mumbai, ArtOxygen is pleased to present works by Amelia Beavis-Harrison (U.K.) & Eirik Magnus Slyngstad (Norway).

Artists Talk: January 19, 6:30-7.30pm
organized by ArtOxygen in collaboration with Floodlight Foundation & StudioX
192, 4th floor, Kitab Mahal, Dadabhai Naoroji Road, Fort, Mumbai

Amelia Beavis-Harrison (U.K.) & Eirik Magnus Slyngstad (Norway) are an artist duo whose performance practices explore the binaries between theatre and art. During their residency in the city, they realized two pieces at the CST Terminus. The experiences, challenges and learnings of their research will be shared during their interactions at StudioX. Both Amelia & Eirik focus on site-specific works that incorporate colour, textile and costume.

Amelia’s work often explores histories which she re-politicizes for a contemporary understanding, often using props which work in public spaces, historical settings, galleries and theaters. Eirik combines song, costume and choreography to create audio-visual situations that reflect upon the dynamics of the nervous moment of performing.

The evening is being organized in collaboration with the Floodlight Foundation as part of the second edition of its festival PUBLICA. Floodlight was set up to promote the patronage and appreciation of the visual arts through public art projects and educational programming whilst acting as a platform for young and emerging artists. It also aims to build awareness of art among collectors and broaden the base of art appreciation.
