‘Small Spaces with Long Necks’
by Artist/Architect Professor Richard Goodwin

Artist/Architect Professor Richard Goodwin talks about how, through his hybrid practice, he has come to discuss the idea of bringing “the street” to the corridors of high rise residential buildings in Hong Kong.

6:45pm
‘Design Anthropology’
by Object Designer Trent Jansen

Trent has developed a unique style of design, known in his studio as Design Anthropology. This method was devised to move design beyond the stark pragmatism of Modernism and its incongruence with the beautiful imperfection of humanity. Instead Design Anthropology focuses on these imperfections, studying the history and culture of human societies and taking design inspiration from the rich stories that punctuate human heritage. The products, furniture and interiors that result from this design method are richly symbolic, and tell innately human stories.

These talks are part of the Porosity Kabari Workshop. Porosity Kabari (porous junk) is an interdisciplinary, cross-cultural, collaborative project whereby Australian object designer Trent Jansen, and architect/sculptor Richard Goodwin, will work with Indian graphic/object designer Ishan Khosla as well as students from ISDI Parsons Mumbai.

7:30pm
