No. 122, Yangmeizhu Xiejie, Dashilar

Building on the themes from GSAPP’s Housing the Majority conference held in April 2015, Studio-X is conducting a workshop as part of the final week of the Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism + Architecture (UABB) and its Aformal Academy in Shenzhen, China. The workshop will bring together Studio-X Directors from Beijing, Mumbai, and Rio along with faculty from GSAPP’s Housing Core Architecture Studios III in collaboration with faculty and students from the University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen University, and Chinese University of Hong Kong, as well as with the Shenzhen Design Center/Future+, Urbanus and Woods Bagot. The workshop will address a number of issues confronting housing today such as equality, affordability, adaptability, many of which are being researched currently at GSAPP and throughout the Studio-X global network. The workshop will provide a platform to imagine what the future approach to housing might be, and to consider how housing can evolve in order to address emerging issues.

Date: February 24–26, 2016 (Wed–Fri)

Venue: UABB Aformal Academy
Former Dacheng Flour Factory
& #8 Warehouse
