Distinguished Alumni Lecture Series

Thu, Jun 11    6pm

Max Núñez ’10 MSAAD
Max Núñez Bancalari is a Chilean architect and founder of Max Núñez Arquitectos. He graduated from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (2004) and earned a Master in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University (2010). Based in Santiago, Chile, his work develops a material, spatial, and typological investigation informed by specific topographies and territorial narratives. He has won several public competitions, including the design for the new Library, Archive, and Regional Repository of Los Ríos in Valdivia, and the Regional Museum of Atacama in Copiapó. His work has been recognized with the Architectural Record Design Vanguard (2017), the Wallpaper* Design Award (2020), the ArchDaily Building of the Year (2023) for his Glass House, an Outstanding Project selection in the MCHAP Awards (2024) for Hogar Alemán, and the Aporte Urbano National Award (2025) for the Regional Museum of Atacama. Alongside his professional practice, he teaches at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, where he was head of the Master in Architecture program from 2016 to 2020.

About the Distinguished Alumni Lecture Series
Launched in 2025 in collaboration with the GSAPP Alumni Board, the series is intended to recognize and celebrate Columbia GSAPP alumni who have distinguished themselves through lifetime achievement and professional accomplishments that reflect the ethos and spirit of GSAPP. We hope it will also foster intellectual dialogue among the Columbia GSAPP community and inspire current students as they pursue their studies.

Please use this link to register for the lecture. Columbia campus is open to active affiliate Columbia University ID (CUID) holders and approved guests only. Please register to receive campus access.

The Distinguished Alumni Lecture Series will also launch the annual Alumni Weekend, a time of reconnecting for our graduates across generations and programs.
