Clayton Meyer

Clayton Meyer serves as the Head of Commercial Real Estate at American Equity (NYSE:AEL), where he manages the company’s commercial real estate equity portfolio and leads the acquisitions and equity investment strategies. Directly reporting to the CIO, Clayton spearheads the development and refinement of American Equity’s commercial real estate equity platform, aligning it with evolving market conditions and specific risk-return objectives.

Before his tenure at American Equity, Clayton garnered experience at The Carlyle Group, focusing on U.S. real estate opportunities, and at Starwood Capital Group, where he honed his skills in acquisitions, capital markets, and asset management. His career is marked by a consistent track record in sourcing, underwriting, closing, and managing a diverse range of investments across various property types and markets in the U.S.

Clayton earned his B.S. in Hotel Administration, with a Minor in Real Estate, from Cornell University’s Hotel School, where he graduated Cum Laude and with Distinction. Additionally, he attended The Lawrenceville School.
