Helle Søholt, Gehl Studio

Mon, Oct 3, 2022    6:30pm

New Times, Better Places, Stronger Communities

A lecture by Helle Søholt, founding partner and CEO of Gehl.

The lecture is co-organized by the GSAPP Dean’s Office and the MS in Architecture and Urban Design program. Response by David Smiley, MSAUD Assistant Director and Adjunct Associate Professor, and Adam Lubinsky, MSRED Associate Professor of Professional Practice and Managing Principal at WXY architecture + urban design.

Helle Søholt started the company Gehl with Professor Jan Gehl in 2000. Gehl is an urban design and research consultancy offering expertise in the fields of architecture, urban design, landscape architecture, and city planning. The consultancy addresses global trends with a people-focused approach, utilizing empirical analysis to understand how the built environment can promote well-being. Gehl applies this analysis to strategic planning and human-centered design to empower citizens, decision-makers, company leaders, and organizations.

This lecture will be held in person and is accessible to Columbia University affiliates with a valid green pass, and will be live-streamed for the general public on the GSAPP YouTube Channel.
