Columbia Documents of Architecture and Theory, more colloquially known as D, was a biannual journal that compiled selected material from lectures, conferences, and other forms of discourse that took place at Columbia GSAPP. Its focus was generally theoretical, seeking to explore architecture’s engagement with culture and history and to invite leading theorists and practitioners to question the context in which the practice of architecture occurs.
The third volume of D includes an essay by Saskia Sassen on the global city, discussion of urban plans and his own work by Rem Koolhaas, an essay on density and social justice by Peter Marcuse, projects by Stan Allen and Itsuko Hasegawa, scholarly essays on Le Corbusier by Stanislas von Moos and Robin Evans, and a memorial essay for Evans by Mark Rakatansky.
