Rotor (Victor Meesters and Tom Schoonjans) will present their work for the Paul S. Byard Memorial Lecture, followed by a conversation with Jorge Otero-Pailos (GSAPP, Jorge Otero-Pailos Studio).

Founded in Brussels in 2005, Rotor fosters debate on questions related to resources, waste, and obsolescence in the building sector through applied research projects, exhibitions, conferences, and publications. Representing Belgium at the 12th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennial in 2010, their exhibition Usus/Usures explored wear as a reaction to use and a potentially creative architectural process.

The panel, The Future of Zoning and Its Planning Impacts, will bring together Anita Laremont (Fried Frank), Chris Hayner (NYC Department of City Planning), Paul Selver (Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer), and John Woelfling (Dattner Architects) in a conversation moderated by Howard Slatkin (‘00 MSUP, Citizens Housing and Planning Council). They will discuss initiatives like City of Yes, the challenges ahead—from climate and housing to equity—and what the new administration signals for the future of zoning.
