This week, GSAPP moves between studios, lectures, and shared spaces, bringing together conversations, projects, and people across the School. Events and news across the ecosystem reflect the range of work underway.

The 2026 Fitch Colloquium, organized by the Historic Preservation program, explores contemporary preservation practices in western Africa and the ways they have grappled with the architectural and cultural legacies of independence and decolonization.

Speakers include Jeanne Autran-Edorh and Fabiola Büchele, Stephen Angus Battle, Rachel Ama Asaa Engmann, Ishanlosen Odiaua, Ikem Okoye, Prita Meier, Francis Sossah, and Martino Stierli. Moderation and responses by Jorge Otero-Pailos, Lucia Allais, Erica Avrami, and Mabel Wilson.

Organized in conjunction with MoMA’s exhibition on western African architecture, the colloquium brings together preservationists, architects, historians, planners, archaeologists, curators, and cultural leaders to reflect on the past, present, and future of preservation in western Africa.

Tuesday Talks provides GSAPP students with the opportunity to engage with the wider alumni community for informative mentorship during the Fall semester.

• Faculty Lola Ben-Alon published the essay, “Sun-Developed Matter, or, The Raw Transformations of Soils and Plants,” in the A–D VOL 96.3 The New Heliomorphism.

• Faculty Amelyn Ng gives a lecture, Island Assets, to University of Miami students at the Fisher Center in NYC.

• Faculty Jie Zhang and Kyong Kim ‘15 M.Arch are 2026 MacDowell Fellows for Architecture. (pictured)

• The book At the Edge of Where God Built by Faculty Ziad Jamaleddine (L.E.FT Architects) is published on Platform.

• Faculty Dimitra Tsachrelia Holl will deliver a lecture, “Visions of Architecture: Dimitra Tsachrelia Holl on the Art of Architectural Ideation,” with Hannah Feniak, Architizer’s Editor in Chief, September 29.
