John Lin

John Lin is an Adjunct Professor at Columbia GSAPP. His speciality is designing structures and buildings for rural communities in China.

He has taught at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and the Chinese University of Hong Kong where he was the recipient of the 2010 Outstanding Teacher Award.

Lin is one half of Rural Urban Framework (RUF), a non-profit research and design collaborative with colleague John Lin. The objective of their work is to engage in the rural-urban transformation of China through built projects, research, exhibitions and writing.

RUF operates as a non-for-profit and collaborates with charities, private donors, Chinese Governmental Bureaus, and Universities. The work is conducted within the Faculty of Architecture at The University of Hong Kong.

RUF has received numerous international awards including WA Chinese Architecture Award 2012 and the Curry Stone Design Award 2015.
