Adjunct Assistant Professor
Dan Choi is Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Real Estate Program at Columbia GSAPP, where he teaches a core-curriculum course in Real Estate Development. He has been working as the Director of Development at New Amsterdam Design Associates since 2015, focusing on developing the company’s high-end condominium projects. Prior to N.A.D.A., Dan worked as an architect for over 10 years in New York City designing a variety of project types, ranging from a 115-story tower in Korea to an experimental theater-arts building in Dallas, Texas, most notably for such firms as Rem Koolhaas’s Office for Metropolitan Architecture and for Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. After graduating from Columbia University’s MsRED program, Dan went to work for Douglaston Development as the project manager for a 510-unit ground up residential tower in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. He earned his Bachelor of Architecture at Cornell University in 2004. He is also an active painter and photographer, exhibiting his work internationally.
