Jessica Williams

Jessica Williams is Adjunct Assistant Professor in Historic Preservation at Columbia GSAPP, and the Curator of History and Collections at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum. She oversees the interpretation of the ship’s two historic vessels, the aircraft carrier Intrepid and the submarine Growler. Through temporary exhibitions and long-term restoration efforts, she evaluates new ways to communicate the significance of these vessels to the museum’s users, including in-person and virtual visitors. Williams also oversees the museum’s collections of historic artifacts, artifacts and media, as well as an active oral history program. Her interpretive writing has been recognized by the American Alliance of Museum’s Excellence in Exhibition Label Writing Competition.

Previously, Jessica Williams worked on exhibitions and collections at the Jewish Museum and has volunteered at other New York museums. While a graduate student in the Historic Preservation program at Columbia GSAPP, Jessica worked as a freelance writer and researcher, examining residential and commercial architecture in New York. She was the editor of Future Anterior, Columbia’s journal of historic preservation history, theory and criticism.
