Shanta Tucker

As Atelier Ten’s energy analysis practice principal, Shanta Tucker has particular experience with the engineering and design of HVAC systems, as well as building performance modeling and analysis techniques for optimizing energy efficiency of building envelope, mechanical, and electrical systems. She has worked on a variety of university, commercial, cultural, and institutional buildings, notably the LEED-Platinum rated Kroon School of Forestry at Yale University, the Duke University Central Campus Masterplan, the Riverside Health Center in New York City, the Columbia University Manhattanville Campus new science buildings, and several high-rise and mixed-use projects in the United States, South America and Europe. In addition to teaching at Columbia GSAPP, she has taught an integrated systems course for the graduate program Yale University and for the New School and taught the environmental systems course for the undergraduate architecture program at Pratt for four years. She is a LEED-Accredited Professional and has studied at the Center for Energy Studies at the Ecole des Mines in Paris, holds a BS in Architectural Engineering from the University of Colorado, and is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of California. Shanta is the chair of ASHRAE’s Certification Committee and serves on the board of directors for the International Building Performance Simulation Association’s USA affiliate. Her professional affiliations include ASHRAE, ASHRAE-NY, the USGBC and IBPSA-USA.
